On May 9th, the Board of Directors for Butler County Challenger announced the decision to cancel the spring season in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We feel this is the right choice for the safety and health or our players, families, volunteers, and community. We also announced plan to play an extended Fall Ball season depending on status of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was a very difficult decision. Every board member is the parent of a current or former player in our league. We know how much our players love the game, the fellowship and fun that Challenger provides every summer. Our volunteers work hard to maintain our beautiful complex, plan our season, and raise funds to support our league. We have never before cancelled our season, and hopefully never will again.
At this time, we are still planning for Fall Ball and hoping to extend Fall Ball season by starting earlier and playing as many games as we can, including Saturday mornings to avoid the heat in August. We are also planning to host our annual golf outing on September 19th. We will keep you informed on these events over the summer as we continue to monitor the pandemic and re-opening of Ohio.
